Joseph Hill "Joss" Whedon (born June 23, 1964) is an American screenwriter, executive producer, film and television director, comic book writer, occasional composer, and actor, and the founder of Mutant Enemy Productions and co-creator of Bellwether Pictures. He is best known as the creator and showrunner of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly and Dollhouse, as well as the short film Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Whedon co-wrote and produced the horror film The Cabin in the Woods.[1]

He is also notable for his work in comic books and online media. Many of Whedon's projects have cult status.

He wrote and directed The Avengers, the third highest-grossing film of all time. Whedon also directed the post-credits scene in the Thor and co-wrote Captain America: The First Avenger and Thor: The Dark World. He recently signed a deal with Disney that will keep him with the Marvel Studios till the June of 2015, within which he will write and direct the next Avengers movie, The Avengers: Age of Ultron and also help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC Studios.[2] The show was later announced to have been named Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., with Whedon directing the pilot episode.[3]
